The Cate School boys volleyball team took Carpinteria to five sets, but could not pull out a victory on Wednesday.
The game scores were 14-25, 25-13, 26-24, 20-25 and 10-15.
After a slow start, the Rams took control of the game in the second and third sets.
“Really what it comes down to is we were communicating,” head coach Richard Pertsulakes said about his teams performance in the middle of the match.
Michael Castaneda led the Rams with 11 kills and also had two aces. Bowen Baker had an excellent all-around perfromance with nine kills and eight digs, while Spencer Whiteman helped out the offense with nine more kills.
But the Warriors reversed the momentum in the fourth game and took consecutive sets to win the match.
Cate (1-4) will continue its season on Wednesday at home against Providence Hall.
