Warriors bested by Grace Brethren

The Carpinteria baseball team was unable to complete a sweep against Grace Brethren and lost at 6-1 to its Tri-Valley League opponent.

“We did such a good job adjusting to weather and a schedule change early in the week. Maybe a beautiful day at home does not force us to grit our teeth,” Warriors head coach Pat Cooney said.

Colton Rubio started the game and pitched six innings, giving up eight hits and three earned runs, while striking out five and walking just one.

The defense struggled, and half of Grace Brethren’s runs were unearned while the Warriors committed three errors.

Marcus Hutchinson cracked a base hit with two outs in the second inning to bring home Max Damron for Carpinteria’s only run.

The Warriors (9-9 overall, 4-4 TVL) will continue their season on Wednesday at home against Oaks Christian.
