SBCC survived a six-run eighth inning from Hancock on Thursday, holding on for a 12-11 WSC victory at Pershing Park.
The two teams came in with identical 7-8 conference records. Now the Vaqueros are in third place a game ahead of Hancock.
Steven Reveles and Eli Michaels gave SBCC the offense it needed to pile up its 12 runs. Reveles drove in four runs in a 2-for-4 performance. Michaels was 3-for-5 with one RBI. Jared Dinges and Brandon Laubhan added two RBI each.
Winning pitcher Lucas Benenati came on in long relief after starter Brendan Shoemake was lifted with two outs in the third inning. Benenati was charged with all six runs in the eighth inning but only two were earned.
The Vaqueros will travel to Cuesta on Saturday for their next game.
