Dos Pueblos’ Josh Tedeschi was called up from the junior varsity squad for the Righetti Class and led the Chargers to a 4-3 win over Pioneer Valley.
“We were hoping to get three, maybe four innings from Josh and he went six and one-third,” head coach Nate Mendoza said.
Tedeschi allowed five hits, three runs and threw three strikeouts and two walks.
“All in all, it was an outstanding outing by Josh,” Mendoza added.
Tedeschi’s hard work put the Chargers in position to win, but Nolan Soto still had to come through win some late-game heroics on the mound.
Soto came in to close the seventh inning and after walking two batters (one intentionally), Pioneer Valley had the bases loaded with just one out. Soto rose to the challenge and struck out the final two players he faced to get the save.
At the plate, Brett Patton and Gabe Speier fueled the offense. Patton went 1-for-2 with two RBIs while Speier had a double and two runs scored.
Dos Pueblos (13-6 overall) will continue play in the tournament tomorrow night against South Torrance.
