Dons best Chargers in four sets

The Santa Barbara High volleyball team defeated Channel League rival Dos Pueblos in four sets on Tuesday to keep an undefeated league record.

The game scores were 21-25, 25-20, 25-25-23, and 26-24.

The Chargers took the first game but the Dons picked up the tempo and never looked back.

Gavin Trudeau kept the ball movning and finished the game with 43 assists.

His excellent passing helped set up the hitters and Casey Slaught led the team with 11 kills.

Channing Peake stepped in for Holden Ploch, who was out with the flu, and smashed nine kills on 17 attempts for a .529 hitting percentage. Other standout performances include Vince Velsaco’s defense at libero, and Tristan Fauntleroy’s aggressive play at outside hitter which earned him seven kills.

“It was definitely a team win for us,” Dons head coach Chad Arneson said.

Santa Barbrara (11-4 overall, 3-0 CL) will continue its season on Thursday at home against Ventura.
