The San Marcos swim team posted several impressive individual performances in its dual meet with Orcutt Academy.
In the boys race, Abhi Sarkar-Frandsen won the 50 yard freestyle (22.66), which is a CIF qualifying time. He also bettered that time when he swam the first leg of the 200 yard freestyle relay in a time of 22.51. The team, which included Spencer Kemp, Kameron Bebb, and Benjamin Haslund-Gourley, won the race.
Jason Phreaner won the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 2:00.23.
For the girls, three relay events featured CIF consideration times: the 200 yard medley relay team of Relay Wagner, Riley, Depew, Johnson (1:58.10), the 200 yard freestyle relay team of Mack, Depew, Johnson, Wagner (1:45.18) and the 400 freestlye relay team of Brown, Depew, Johnson, Wagner.
Individually, Dasha Depew also posted a CIF consideration time of 54.45 in the 100 yard freestyle.
Other highlights included Paige Brown’s win in the 100 yard freestyle.
“I was so proud of her accomplishment. She has had a hard week and it was great to see her swim so well,” coach Chuckie Roth said.
Karlie Mack had one of the best days in her career and won the 50 yard freestyle (26.47) , while also contributing to a victorious relay team.
Jenna Phreaner set a personal best in the 100 free with a time of 58.56.
“We are swimming very well and are excited about our opportunities next week with Channel league,” Roth said.
The Channel League Championships will take place next week on Wendesday and Thursday at Buena.
