Every point counted in the boys tennis match between the Cate School and San Marcos as the teams tied 9-9 with Cate winning the tie-breaker 77-76.
Blake Mackall went 3-0 once again in singles play. Austin Lokre went 2-1, and Alex Erling went 1-2, but picked up three important points against the Royals’ top singles player, Petar Jivkov.
The doubles team of Michael Revord and Thys Northup won the deciding match for the Rams. After two disappointing losses earlier in the day, they bounced back and won their final matchup 6-4 to give the Rams a victory.
San Marcos will continue its season on Tuesday at Arroyo Grande.
Cate (5-3 overall, 2-0 Condor League) will play next on Wednesday at Dos Pueblos.
