A late three-goal lead almost dried up for Cate’s lacrosse team on Wednesday, but the Rams were able to hold on for a 16-15 non-league win over Agoura.
Deadlocked 7-7 at the break, Cate was able to put Agoura in a 16-13 hole with under four minutes to go in the game.
Before it was over, the Chargers made a last-gasp effort and shrank Cate’s lead to 16-15 with 2:13 remaining. From there, Cate managed to kill the rest of the clock by maintaining possession.
“We’ve certainly played prettier games, but what a win for our team this afternoon,” said Rams assistant coach Linda Sommers.
Annie Weis came through with eight goals, two assists and two draw controls. Alexis Hill’s six goals matched her six draw controls. Lisa Huang added a pair of scores.
Cate is 8-1 overall and 2-0 in league play. The Rams take on Thacher on Saturday at home.
