Janelle Nguyen led Dos Pueblos girls swimmers during qualifying at the Klaus Barth Invitational in Long Beach on Wednesday.
Nguyen won the 500 freestyle and finished second in the 100 butterfly in the preliminaries Her 500 time was 5:08.43, which was nearly 12 seconds faster than second place. She times 56.60 in the 100 fly.
Maelyn Adornetto finished in the top five in two events: third in the 100 breast (1:11.07) and fourth in the 200 IM (2:17.90).
Freshman Courtney Nuttual was the No. 3 qualifier in the 500 free at 5:24.29 and finished fifth in the 200 IM (2:18.35).
Freshman Regan Eickert was fourth in the 100 back and eighth in the 200 free.
Other qualifiers for Friday’s championship finals include Julia Horibe (100 breast), Laurel Kistler (100 free, 200 free), Sarah Jamieson (100 free and 50 free), Emily Swindle (50 free, 100 fly).
