Santa Barbara High’s boys golf team tailed off some in the third round of the La Quinta Champion’s Invitational on Wednesday, but still finished in the top-ten of the 38-team tournament thanks to another strong round from James Morton.
Santa Margarita won for the second year in a row with a three-round score of 897. Long Beach Wilson was second five strokes behind.
The Dons finished at 921 after a third-round total of 315, their highest of the tournament. Morton recorded the low score for the Dons in the third straight round with a 76.
Morton’s three-round total of 221 (69-76-76) was 11th overall amongst individuals.
Ryan Stoll (77), Sean Searls (80) and Jonathan Collins (82) filled out Santa Barbara’s scorers on Wednesday.
