San Marcos’ boys and girls track & field teams topped Buena in Channel League dual meets on Thursday.
Kaylin Koopmans and Michael Orozco were among several multiple event winners for the Royals, who have their next big meet next Saturday at the Santa Barbara County Championships.
Koopmans won the 200 in a time of 27.14 seconds and the 400 in 59.82. Koopmans also anchored the 4×400 relay team that posted a season best time of 4:05. That team includes Annie Thwing, Emily Allen and Ashley Carney.
Orozco won the discus and shot put while also adding a second place effort in the long jump. His disc throw of 137 feet, 3 inches and long jump of 19’6″ were both personal bests.
Andrew Thayer captured the 100 and 200 sprints for the boys side. Erick Salas won the mile and Davey McBride ran a personal best in the 400 at 51.30.
Kelsey Hyatt won the discus and shot put for the girls.
