San Marcos’ boys golf team edged Dos Pueblos by the slimmest of margins on Thursday, recording a 404-405 Channel League decision at Sandpiper Golf Club.
The Chargers’ Grant Amerson was medalist with a 74 but no other Dos Pueblos golfers scored under 80 in the rainy and cold conditions.
San Marcos Thayer White, with 75, and teammate Niels Anderson, with 79, led the Royals.
“Golf course played very long today with the rain – it rained for almost most of the round,” explained Royals head coach Dave Siordia. “At one point it rained for three hours straight.”
San Marcos won in the final three holes. White, Anderson, Joey Mazziotta and Dylan Wright were two-under as a group to close out the round.
The result moves the two schools into a tie in the league standings at 2-3.
