Connelly leads Cards over Flashes

Casey Connelly ushered in his Spring Break with the best match of his career, as the defensive specialist used a team-high seven digs and near flawless passing to lead Bishop Diego over visiting Fillmore on Thursday. The Cardinals won the Tri-Valley League matchup in sweeping fashion, 25-14, 25-18, 25-15.

Chandler Swift also had a solid night in the back row to go along with an ace and two digs. Setter Brandon Gonzalez made some highlight-reel digs and dished out 20 assists with three aces.

“Brandon has been playing some really good volleyball lately, which we need for our offense to run efficiently,” said coach Jason Donnelly.

Patrick Schlesselmann had five kills with no errors and Michael Winnewisser had six kills for the Cardinals (4-8, 3-7).
