The Dos Pueblos boys volleyball team lost the first set of its away match against Santa Ynez, but won the next three to earn a victory.
The game scores were 23-25, 25-16, 25-16 and 25-21.
“We were just kind of getting the rust off from spring break,” head coach Chris Hughes said.
The Chargers also tried a different lineup in the first game, and the Pirates played their best volleyball of the match in the opening set.
After the slow start, Dos Pueblos used a balanced attack to convincingly win the remaining sets.
Gabe Burdick led the team with 16 kills while Kevin Pappas had five kills on nine attepmts and Jordan Foster had five kills on six attempts. Keaton Arutian had an excellent night serving the ball and finished with four aces.
The Chargers (7-9 overall, 2-0 Channel League) will play next on Tuesday at home against Santa Barbara.
