Addi Zerrenner’s new school record in the 3200 highlighted an otherwise dreary day for Dos Pueblos’ track and field team, as both the boys and girls teams lost to Ventura.
Team scores were 95-32 in the boys competition and 83-44 in the girls.
Zerrenner’s time of five minutes and 2.8 seconds came with the rain coming down.
“Pretty incredible when you consider how horrendous the conditions were,” noted Chargers head coach Leslie Wiggins. “I think she would have easily broken five minutes had there been less of a downpour during her race.”
Stamatia Scarvelis was a two-event winner in discus and shot put. Bryan Fernandez and Natalie Klapp won races and finished second in another.
Fernandez won the 3200 in 9:47.42 and Klapp captured the 200-meter sprint in 26.96.
