The Dos Pueblos High baseball team was locked in a pitchers’ duel at Ventura on Tuesday and the home team scored the decisive run in the eighth inning to hand the Chargers their second Channel League loss.
Luke Loggins continued his stellar season by starting the game for Dos Pueblos and taking a no-hitter all the way into the sixth inning. Joe Huthsing relieved him in the seventh and pitched well despite giving up the game-winning run.
For Ventura, Reed Nothwang earned a complete game victory and held the Chargers to just five hits.
“Offensively, we didn’t bring it today,” Dos Pueblos coach Nate Mendoza said. “We had some opportunities early on we didn’t execute in some situations.”
The Chargers (15-7 overall, 4-2 CL) will get a chance to redeem the loss on Friday at home when they play Ventura again.
