Two sweeps in doubles catapulted Dos Pueblos’ boys tennis team to a 12-6 Channel League win over San Marcos on Wednesday.
Jack Roberts-Caleb Franzen and Mason Casady-Sam Boulanger formed two teams for the Chargers that went 3-0. Those six points were the difference.
In singles, San Marcos’ Petar Jivkov won three sets to run his overall record this season to 39-3. Keyvan Golizadeh also won a singles set for the Royals.
The Royals doubles teams didn’t produce many wins but competed well according to head coach Jarrod Bradley.
“I’m happy with how consistent and aggressive our doubles teams played today,” Bradley said. “I think we’re starting to understand how to capitalize on our strengths and play to that advantage rather than worry about consequences.”
The result drops the Royals to 8-6, 3-2 in Channel League while Dos Pueblos improves to 10-2 and 3-1.
