The Bishop Diego baseball team had an offensive explosion against Kilpatrick on Friday and won its home game 13-1.
The team racked up twelve runs in the first three inings, putting the game out of reach for the visitors.
J.D. Yonke started the game for the Cardinals and was solid the whole way through.
“J.D. pitched well again,” Bishop Diego coach Kai Solin said. “We took care of business.”
In the fourth, the Cardinals capped off the scoring on an inside-the-park home run by Jack Gregson. Gregson crushed a ball over the center fielder’s head, causing the Kilpatrick outfielder to miss a diving catch. The visiting player then got up and recovered the ball, but the throw to home was not in time to spot Gregson from getting his home run the hard way.
Bishop Diego (14-3 overall, 7-1 Frontier League) will return to league play next week with games against Santa Paula on Wendesday and Friday.
