Carpinteria won six sets in singles and doubles and defeated St. Bonaventure 12-6 in a Tri-Valley League boys tennis match on Tuesday.
Ben Murray, Justin Nathanson and Cole Menegon all went 2-1, each losing their only set to the Seraphs No. 1 player.
The No. 3 doubles team of Matt Jansen/Johnny Blackwell swept all three of their sets. Jonathon Cleek/Collin Nathanson went 2-1 on the day. They almost had a sweep but ended up losing 7-5 to St. Bonaventure’s No. 3 team.
The Warriors’ No. 1 doubles team of Tim Goulart/Greg Norton had a little redemption against the Seraphs’ No. 1 team, beating them 6-4 in a tough battle to avenge an earlier defeat.
“Overall, we played a lot stronger this time around, especially our first and third rounds,” coach Charles Bryant said. “For the most part, we played well. We still need to be a little more consistent at
the baseline and a little more aggressive at the net.”
Carpinteria is now 5-7 overall and 4-0 in league.
