Westmont’s march in the NAIA Women’s Basketball Tournament ended in Saturday’s quarterfinal round, with the top-seeded Warriors falling to second-seeded Lubbock Christian 66-61.
Lubbock outscored Westmont by 11 points in the second half. A 12-0 run early in the half gave Lubbock the lead for good. Brittany Roberts’ 19 points was tops amongst four teammates in double figures.
Lisa Peterson led Westmont in scoring with 22. Player of the Year candidate Tugce Canitez made 5-of-8 shot attempts and totaled 13 points and 16 rebounds.
It was only the fourth loss of the season for the Warriors (31-4).
