The Carpinteria High volleyball team defeated Bishop Diego in five sets after losing the first two games.
The set scores were 24-26, 14-25, 25-22, 25-22 and 15-13.
“They played pretty consistent at certain points and we sort of gave it away,” Bishop Diego assistant coach Blake Dorfman said. “It will be a good match to motivate us.”
For the Cardinals, Nic Mon had an impressive all-around performance with 20 kills and 12 digs. Brandon Gonzalez was excellent in service and finished the night with four aces.
Bishop Diego played 5’7″ Abe Solis in the front row for the first time, and he was a pleasant surprise for the team, finishing with four kills and six digs.
“He played his heart out,” Dorfman said.
Bishop Diego (1-5 overall, 1-4 Tri-Valley League) will continue its season on Tuesday at home against Orcutt Academy.
