UCSB swimmers Andrea Ward and Sophia Yamauchi were selected to compete in the NCAA Women’s Championships in Auburn, Ala. next week.
Ward, the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Athlete of the Year, qualified for her first NCAA Championships with a time of 52.98 in the 100 butterfly. She is seeded 28th in the event. She will also swim in the 200 fly (seeded 40th).
Yamauchi gained an invitation to the championships with her 200 individual medley time of 1:58.56. She is seeded 27th in the event. She will also compete in the 100 breaststroke (seeded 36th) and the 200 breast (seeded 46th).
The championships will be held March 15-17 at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center in Auburn, Alabama.
