SBCC split a pair of games at the Golden West softball tournament on Friday in Huntington Beach, edging Orange Coast 6-5 and falling to Chaffey 3-0.
In the first game, catcher Lauren Larabell went 3-4 with a double, one RBI and two runs. Tara Crawford was 2-2 with a double and an RBI and Brianna Portese went 2-3 and knocked in a run.
Celese Acosta (2-1) got the win, allowing just three hits and striking out five. The Vaqueros (4-7) built a 6-1 lead in the fourth, then survived a grand slam by Ashley Arlington in the sixth.
Chaffey shut out SBCC on three hits and the Vaqueros committed three errors.
Santa Barbara will take on Oxnard in a playoff game on Saturday at 2 p.m.
