Wet weather may have dampened portions of this past weekend’s Gaucho Classic II, but it certainly did not dampen senior Allison Taylor’s play in the tournament. The UCSB player has garnered her first career Big West Player of the Week honor after a productive weekend at the plate.
Taylor, who was the Gauchos’ designated hitter across four games at their home tournament, finished the week with a team-leading .417 batting average, .583 slugging and .417 on-base percentage. She helped the Gauchos to Sunday’s sweep of San Jose State by providing the game-winning RBI and also tied the game for the Gauchos in the second game.
She drove in two runs in each of the games with the Spartans and also had a double in each contest.
UCSB will be back in action on Sunday, March 25 when it hosts UCLA for a single game at 1 p.m. at Campus Diamond.
