Henrietta Spetz and Megan Thomas posted a victory at No. 2 doubles on Thursday, securing the decisive fifth point for SBCC in a 7-2 WSC women’s tennis victory at Glendale.
The visiting Vaqueros (both teams use the nickname Vaqueros) won their third straight to improve to 9-1 overall and 3-1 in conference.
Spetz-Thomas won 8-2 after Sophie Angner survived a tiebreaker at No. 1 singles to beat Sevana Zargarian 6-2, 7-6 (2) for the fourth point. The Vaqueros won held a 4-2 lead after the singles.
“Henrietta and Megan came out like gangbusters,” said coach Debbie Ekola. “They got our fifth point when the other two doubles were down.”
Hannah Erickson and Lindsay Penner overcame a 4-1 deficit and won their doubles set 8-4 by sweeping the last seven games.
SBCC will take a week off before traveling to Bakersfield on Friday, March 16.
