Dos Pueblos resisted Simi Valley on Tuesday night but fell to the Pioneers in five games 25-23, 25-21, 15-25, 15-25, 15-11.
The Chargers did what they could to rally but were still feeling the effects of a long day on Saturday at their own Dos Pueblos Invitational.
“We’re pretty spent as a team physically and emotionally,” said Chargers head coach Chris Hughes. “We’ll come back.”
Gabe Burdick recorded 19 kills in the match while Mansai Conner added 13 kills and six blocks.
It’s not the first five-set match Dos Pueblos (5-9) has played in already this season.
“I keep telling the guys, it’s going to pay off in the end,” Hughes said of the long matches.
Dos Pueblos has one more match against Ventura on Thursday before taking some time off for Spring Break.
