Trevor Gorski matched his season-best round with a 3-over-par 75 on Monday but SBCC had an off day in the final round of the North-South Invitational at Hunter Ranch in Paso Robles.
Gorski finished the 36-hole event at 154 (79-75). Reese Hutchins (79-78) and Thomas McLendon (75-82) both shot 157. Tyler Archer of Chabot was the medalist at 71-71–142.
Defending state champion Chabot shot 368 on Monday and won the team title with a 743 total. Glendale finished six strokes back at 749, followed by Ventura (773) and Bakersfield (774).
SBCC shot 396 and placed sixth in the eight-team field with 787 strokes.
“No excuses, the conditions were perfect and we just had a bad day,” said coach Chuck Melendez. “We love this course but we didn‘t play well. It was still an enjoyable tournament.”
The Vaqueros will compete in WSC No. 4 and the Glendora Invitational on Monday at Glendora CC. Glendora will be the site of this year’s Southern Cal Regional on May 7.
