The SBCC men’s basketball team has been named a finalist for the State Team Scholar Award by the California Community College Athletic Association.
The Vaqueros have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.28. Two players have GPAs of 4.0, six are at 3.75 or higher and 13 of the 18 student-athletes have a GPA of 3.0 or better.
“That’s an exceptional accomplishment to have that many guys who are performing at such a high academic level,“ said head coach Morris Hodges. “People need to remember these are student-athletes. There’a big time commitment for basketball and they also have to manage their academics. That speaks volume about their level of commitment.”
