Royals win fourth game at So Cal Invitational

The San Marcos High baseball team beat Viewpoint 5-4 on Saturday to finish with a 4-1 record in the Southern California Invitational.

The game started off as a pitchera’ duel; Evan Doherty allowed only one hit through three innings.

Viewpoint jumped on San Marcos’ reliever with two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth.

Down 4-1, the Royals came storming back in the sixth inning. Isaac Rodriguez led off the inning with a hit, then the next three batter were walked. Travis Caeser and Paxton Ridgeway each singled to drive in runs, and Duncan Proctor drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice-fly.

Caeser went 3-for-3, while teammate Joe Prince also had a solid hitting day, going 3-4.

San Marcos (4-1) will play next on Wednesday at Nordhoff.
