Petar Jivkov and Owen Lincoln swept three sets each on Friday for San Marcos’ boys tennis team, which was bouyed by its singles play in an 11-7 non-league win over West Ranch.
Jivkov ran his season record to 24-0 with the three wins. For Lincoln, it was his third three-set sweep in a match this season.
“Owen has really stepped up his game the past couple weeks,” said Royals head coach Jarrod Bradley. “He’s proven he can think the game, adjust on the fly and orchestrate points against a variety of players.”
San Marcos’ doubles teams went 4-5 on the day. Garrett Hazarian and Spencer Kennedy won 2-of-3 sets, as did the team of Ramin Parvin and Jake Wheelock. Parvin and Wheelock won their two sets 7-5 and 7-6(4) to tip the scales in San Marcos’ favor.
“Ramin and Jake competed well today and kept focused on the next point,” Bradley noted. “We’ve really been stressing to the guys to play aggressively and not to think too much about mistakes. All of our guys are starting to do that better.”
After playing four matches in five days, the Royals (6-2) don’t play again until next Thursday.
