San Marcos erupted for five runs in the second inning and rolled to a 9-2 non-league win at Hueneme on Wednesday.
Kristen Berlo struck out 11 and held the Vikings to two hits.
Singles by Lyana Gonzalez, Emily Dietz and Jocelyn Flattery singled, and two Hueneme errors led to the first three runs. Berlo ripped a two-run double to make it 5-0.
In the third inning, Flattery reached base on an error and scored on a single to left by Veronica Villarreal, who advanced to third when the ball was misplayed by the Hueneme left fielder. Berlo tripled in Villarreal and Angel Mermis followed with an RBI double to score Berlo.
The final San Marcos run was scored by Gonzalez who led off the top of the seventh with a double. She scored on an RBI single by Hannah Johnson.
Hueneme scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Berlo, Gonzalez, Dietz and Johnson were all 2 for 4 in the game. Gonzalez and Villarreal each scored two runs. San Marcos is 3-6.
