Moorpark scored six runs in the first two innings on Thursday and went on to beat visiting SBCC 7-3 in a WSC softball game.
Bryn Thompson was 2-2 with a double and a run for the Vaqueros (12-11, 4-3). Faylan Lee hit a two-run homer in the first for the Raiders.
SBCC cut the deficit to 6-3 with three runs in the fourth. Lauren Larabell and Thompson scored on errors and Kiersty Briner came home on a fielder’s choice.
Vaquero starter Alyse Harris went 1 2/3 innings before being replaced by Celeste Acosta.
“We made a couple of outfield errors when we missed the cutoffs,” said assistant coach Erin Breck. “Our bats weren’t there (5 hits) and when they were, we couldn’t string hits together.”
The Vaqueros conclude their six-game road trip this weekend with three games at the Bakersfield Classic. They’ll take on Riverside and Bakersfield on Saturday.
