Joey Mazziota took medalist honors with a score of 74 as the San Marcos boys golf team defeated Rio Mesa 411-434 at Sandpiper Golf Club on Thursday.
“Joey has been playing solid golf and has been building his confidence and it was proven today he can play very well,” head coach David Siordia said. “Joey is the kind of kid who shows up early and leaves late at every practice.”
The team will start Channel League competition on Tuesday against Dos Pueblos at Glen Annie Golf Club.
