Catalina Maldonado handcuffed Santa Barbara High’s softball team on Wednesday, pitching a no-hitter in a 9-0 decision at Carpinteria High.
Maldonado did not allow a hit while striking out 13 hitters without issuing a walk. The junior added a pair of hits offensively for the Warriors, who improve to 3-0 on the season. Maldonado went 2-4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.
Tatiana Verdugo added 3 RBI on two doubles. Erin Saito batted leadoff and went 3-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Carpinteria scored three in the first and six more in the second to take a 9-0 lead after two innings.
The Warriors play again on Saturday against Cabrillo and Morro Bay.
