Catalina Maldonado pitched her second shutout of the season and Carmen Campi blasted a three-run home run in Carpinteria’s 4-0 non-league win over Channel Islands on Tuesday.
Maldonado, who was perfect through four innings, struck out 14 batters in seven innings without walking one. The Raiders were only able to muster two singles on the day.
Campi gave the Warriors their 4-run lead in the fifth inning. Elena Schneider had scored Carpinteria’s first run in the third inning on a sacrifice fly from Erin Saito.
Campi, a third baseman, went 2-4 in the game. As a team, the Warriors piled up 11 hits.
Carpinteria (4-2-1) plays again on Thursday in the league opener with Malibu, followed by a double-header against Nipomo on Saturday.
