Westmont’s five-game winning streak came to an end in El Cajon on Thursday as the Warriors (13-13-1, 6-7 GSAC) fell to San Diego Christian (10-17, 5-8) by a score of 6-1 in a Golden State Athletic Conference game.
The same two teams will square off again tomorrow in El Cajon, beginning at noon. Due to rain in the forecast on Saturday, the doubleheader at Russ Carr Field has been rescheduled for Tuesday at noon.
San Diego Christian scored four in the second, one in the third and another in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead. Westmont’s lone run came in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Tim Leary.
Starter Torin Shaikh took the loss for the Warriors after giving up five runs, three earned, on six hits in three innings of work. Shaikh struck out four without issuing a walk. Ryan Sullivan pitched the remaining five innings, giving up on run on seven hits.
David Pennington was three for four at the plate with a run scored.
