Sean Handley got a measure of revenge, beating Jacob Rucker of Ventura to help Dos Pueblos win 15-3 in a Channel League boys tennis opener on Monday. It was Ventura’s first loss of the season.
Handley scored a 6-2 victory, avenging a 7-5 loss to Rucker last season. Handley lost only four games in sweeping his three sets.
The Chargers took command early by winning all the sets in the first round.
Joshua Wang and Patrick Corpuz added another four sets in singles, and the Chargers took 8 of 9 sets in doubles.
“Focus, calmness, and energy ruled the day, as well as solid tennis, sportsmanship, and mutual respect,” said DP coach Liz Frech.
Dos Pueblos is 4-1 overall and Ventura is 6-1.
