UC Santa Barbara swept the all-important doubles point and split six singles matches en route to a 4-3 win over the University of Nevada on Saturday. The match was played at Fresno State.
Natalia Lozano and Jordan Dockendorf set the doubles tone at No. 1. The Gaucho duo defeated Michelle Okhremchuk and Rymma Maslova 8-3. The doubles point was clinched when Erica Cano and Sofia Novak blasted Juliette Legendre and Emma Verbene at No. 2, 8-1. Kiersten Meehan and April Scatliffe completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win over Sophie Stevens and Gabriela Eufrasio.
Dockendorf continued her outstanding play and was the first off the court in singles as she defeated Eufrasio at No. 5, 6-1, 6-3 in an aggressive serve and volley style match.
Wins by Meehan and Cano at No. 4 and No. 6 singles gave the Gauchos (8-11) their fourth win in their last five matches.
UCSB returns to Big West action on Saturday, April 7 when it hosts Long Beach State on the Robertson Gymnasium Courts beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Gauchos are currently 3-1 in league play.
