Cate’s baseball team improved to 3-0 on the season Friday as the Rams held off visiting St. Monica Academy 5-3 for the non-league win.
Carlos Fairbanks started and picked up the victory for Cate. Fairbanks threw for five shutout innings and struck out 10 batters.
Eric Lowe and Zach Ell provided much of the offense, each recording multi-hit games. Lowe was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and an RBI in the second inning. Ell launched a solo home run in the third inning and finished 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Next up for the Rams is a matchup with New Community Jewish on Tuesday.
