Dos Pueblos’ boys tennis team picked up its third win of the season without a loss on Friday, besting Thousand Oaks 12-6.
The difference was the Chargers’ efforts in doubles, where they captured 8-of-9 sets. Jake Roberts and Caleb Franzen teamed to sweep three sets, as did the duo of Mason Casady and Sam Boulanger.
“As the match unfolded, the Chargers, fired up and focused, took charge of the match by snagging eight of nine sets in dubs,” said Dos Pueblos head coach Liz Frech.
In singles, Sean Handley was the only Charger to come away with a winning record by taking 2-of-3 sets.
Thousand Oaks’ Greg Wise was the only singles player to sweep three sets.
“This battle lasted well over three hours, where doubles finished more than an hour earlier than singles,” Frech noted. “This match was truly inspirational.”
The Chargers (3-0) are off for a while until their next match on March 14.
Thousand Oaks falls to 0-1 on the season.
