Dos Pueblos’ baseball team improved to 6-1 on Saturday after two wins over visiting Burroughs.

The two pitchers who earned wins for DP have accounted for five of the Chargers’ six wins so far.
Luke Loggins is now 3-0 after combining with Dane Short in the shutout and Nolan Soto picked up his second win without a loss in the late game.
Loggins and Short benefitted from the Chargers offense producing eight runs in the first two innings. Ben York went 3-5 in the game with three runs scored and an RBI. Joe Huthsing knocked in three runs on two hits, including a two-run double.
“We were good at hitting with two outs and continued to get base runners,” said Chargers head coach Nate Mendoza.
On the mound, Soto and Short did not walk a batter between them and totaled five strikeouts.
“Zero walks, zero errors basically got us the win,” Mendoza said.
In the second game, the Chargers again scored in both of the first two innings and took the lead for good.
Huthsing added two more RBI and Soto helped himself out with a hit and two runs scored. The Chargers lineup recorded nine hits and nine walks in the game.
In fact, Anthony Spiritosanto walked six times in six at-bats in the two games.
Soto pitched three innings for the win, followed by four innings by Colin Cole.
The Chargers have won six straight and face Alemany, one of the top high school teams in Southern California, on Wednesday at home.
