The Dos Pueblos High softball team defeated Rio Mesa 3-1 in its first game of the Simi Valley Tournament, but lost 7-0 to the hosting Simi Valley Pioneers later on Saturday.
Hannah Harris pitched both games and did not allow an earned run in either outing. All of the runs were scored because of fielding errors.
The defending CIF champions jumped on Rio Mesa early and led 3-1 after the third inning. The offense received a spark from a home run by Chloe Madill.
Once the two-run lead was in hand, Harris had no trouble protecting it.
The team’s next game was against Simi Valley, a Division I team currently ranked No. 14 in California.
The Chargers gave up five runs in the first two innings, and were unable to get going at the plate.
Dos Pueblos (1-1) will play next on Thursday at home against Cabrillo.
