Santa Barbara High’s boys volleyball team got its feet wet on Thursday, opening up its season with a 25-13, 25-12, 25-17 sweep of Santa Ynez in JR Richards Gym.
“We were pretty balanced across the board and everyone got to play which is important for an opener,” said Dons head coach Chad Arneson.
Now that the Dons’ season is underway, it shifts into high gear on Friday night with a matchup against top-ranked Mira Costa down in the South Bay.
On Thursday, Nick Clark led the Dons with eight kills. Sam Cohen pitched in five and Holden Ploch six.
“I’d say it’s a pretty exciting group,” Arneson said. “They’re really having a fun time out there.”
The Dons are coming off a season in which they won the Channel League title and finished with a 19-8 record.
