Santa Barbara erupted for five runs in the fourth inning and knocked off crosstown rival San Marcos 6-2 in a Channel League softball game on Friday.
The Dons were outhit 9-7, but they took advantage of a couple San Marcos errors.
The Royals had a chance for a big inning in the third inning. Stephanie Swann singled in Emily Dietz and the bases were loaded. But Santa Barbara pitcher Brisaly Balderas got out of the inning without allowing another run.
