After going 3-3 in singles, it came down to the doubles on Thursday and L.A. Pierce prevailed, winning the last two sets for a 5-4 men’s tennis victory over SBCC in Woodland Hills.
The Vaqueros (4-2, 3-2 WSC) had their three-match win streak snapped.
“We struggled a little and it was a rough day for us,” said coach Ryan Heinberg, whose team beat Pierce 5-4 in the season opener on Feb. 23. “Everybody was a little off. Give Pierce credit, they outplayed us.”
Miles Seemann, Sebastian Vestberg and Troy Akin posted singles wins for SBCC while Seemann and Joshua Crisp-Jones won in doubles, 8-3.
The Vaqueros host Bakersfield on Friday at 2 p.m.
