Hope Grant buried seven goals and Tatiana Verdugo and Maddie Brooks added four apiece to power Carpinteria’s girls water polo team to a 17-2 rout over Nordhoff on Friday.
The win puts the Warriors closer to a share of the Tri-Valley League title with Malibu. A win next week at Villanova will give them their first championship in program history. They are 8-1 in league and 17-9 overall.
Carpinteria was dominant from the start, leading 8-0 at halftime. It was 13-1 after three periods.
