After three weekends of waiting for greener pastures, the organizers of the Rincon Classic like what they see in this weekend’s forecast and are going for it.
A statement on the contest’s website read, “With the official Surfline wave forecast and weather report predicting head high to overhead waves, sunny skies, and favorable winds, it was an easy decision for the event organizers from Surf Happens to press the green light.”
The event is Santa Barbara’s largest surfing contest each year and attracts many of the top surfers from the 805 area code. It’s the 29th edition of the Rincon Classic.
Heats begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday and run throughout the day. Its starts back up again on Sunday morning with the championship heats happening Sunday afternoon.
