There were lots of zeroes on Tuesday at Pershing Park and that was good news for the SBCC women’s tennis team, which blanked San Diego City 9-0 in a nonconference match.
The Vaqueros (5-0) posted 6-0, 6-0 scores in five of six singles matches. The only exception was No. 2 singles, which Henrietta Spetz won 6-1, 6-4. The doubles also were a perfect 3-0, winning 24 of 26 games.
It was the fourth straight home win and 12th in the last 14 matches.
Stephanie Conliffe, a freshman from Santa Barbara High, made her collegiate debut. She was a 6-0, 6-0 winner in singles and teamed up with former SBHS teammate Talia Hudson for an 8-2 triumph at No. 1 doubles.
The Vaqueros have a big match on Thursday when they open WSC play at two-time defending champion Santa Monica.
