Dos Pueblos coach Anthony Califano is sending wrestlers Chad Lampe, center, and Yaskin Solano to the CIF Masters Meet.
Dos Pueblos’ Chad Lampe and Yaskin Solano advanced to the CIF Masters Meet after placing in Saturday’s Southern Section Division 2 tournament.
Solano outperformed his eighth seed and finished in third at 170 pounds. Solano gave the top seed his closest match of the tournament before falling 4-2 in the quarterfinals.
“For a second-year wrestler, it’s pretty amazing,” said Chargers head coach Anthony Califano.
Califano noted how competitive Lampe’s weight class was. Lampe, a junior, was the fourth seed behind three wrestlers who are all among the top wrestlers at 120 pounds throughout the Southern Section.
Nico Sorenson, Hans Boelsterli and Donny Ahmadian advanced to the second day of the tournament but did record the top-five result that was needed to qualify for the Masters Meet.
