Lampe, Solano stopped short at CIF Masters

Dos Pueblos’ Chad Lampe and Yaskin Solano were both stopped one round short of qualifying for the CIF State Meet on Saturday, finishing their seasons at the second day of the CIF Masters Meet at Temecula Valley High School.

Lampe, competing in the 120-pound division, was out-pointed 9-3 in his final contest while Yaskin was beat by fall in his last match in the 170-pound bracket.

“It’s really phenomenal how far he really made it,” Chargers head coach Anthony Califano said of Solano. “The big picture with Yaskin is considering how new he is to wrestling, he really had a great career.”

Solano finished in third place last week at CIF Southern Section Individuals.

Lampe, who finished 4th last week to qualify for Masters, will return next year while Solano is a senior.

“He really did an awesome job,” Califano said about Lampe, citing the competetiveness of his weight class. “He is really passionate about the sport of wrestling.”
